It doesn't really state anything that hasn't been said before. But it does bring it all together with excellent evidence and examples to back it all up. Brilliant imo. I would just love to hear an SB supporter, or even better SB himself, counter the criticism within it. |

Here we go! Im a Sb supporter and always have been since he took charge. I agree that the above article reminds us of alot of bad points. It looks at the technical side of why the season went 'pearshaped'. Why not look into another few reasons why.. 1. Confidence 2. Determination 3. Effort 4. Giving a s*!t about BCFC I personally believe that if you have a good team of footballers the hard part is keeping them happy, fit, healthy and motivated. If you loose any of those 4 things you may as well either sell the player/s at fault or get ready for relegation. Do you lot seriously think that a team of footballers forgets how to play football if they dont have it drilled into there heads every day? I agree that 1 thing should be worked on in training though, set pieces. You can always create chances from well worked, original set pieces, I agree with that. I can just picture what some people are saying, SB is stood there next to Eric Black at the side of a training match, Neil Kilkenny slices the defence open with a quality through ball and just before Forssell slots it in SB shouts 'WOW WOW WOW, what do you think your doing! You know I hate this style, Ive told you give it to Pennant and let him cross it in to Heskey or ummm, something' wtf** I DONT THINK SO What cost us this season was injuries, a lack of determination and effort and over paid, arrogant players. (In my ''Unproffesional'' opinion of course **thumbup ) Lets get the crap, overpaid players out and start again with new, fresh determination. All in all, we lost key players, we lost confidence and we lost any sort of determination we had, until the last 5 games. I rekon that factors such as David Dunn, Muzzy Izzet and Forssell being out for such long periods can have a negative effect on the rest of the squad. It would be like Man U loosing Rooney, Ronaldo and Giggs for the whole season, I bet they would have struggled alot more with those 3 out all season. Plus Upsons been out for a while and we can go on for ever and ever about not scoring many, but whilst leaking goals left right and centre as well, we were never gonna get into Europe. KRO all you Blue noses, I'll be there next season and I'll be supporting Bruce if he stays as well, Actually, I'll be glad to see him in the Dug out. :ph43r: **thumbup |

Errrm - The 4 things you point are valid but they are 4 things that the manager is paid to ensure his team has so if as you say 1 of those things is missing relegation is a certainty the fact that SB failed to 1. Instill confidence in the players 2. Make them determined enough to win games or accepted their lack of determination 3. Didn't ensure they made enough of an effort or failed to drop players who didn't 4. Didn't ensure they gave a ***** about BCFC or failed to drop players who didn't means he should no longer be employed as manager having failed on those criteria. |

True, good point. tomatoes <-- Aimed at myself that is The thing is though, have you ever heard of a player moan about SB's coaching ability? I haven't, quite the opposite in fact. Hence my post. |

Have any of us heard the players complain about anything done by Steve Bruce. It'll be a cold day in hell before any pro-footballer mouths off at the manager that was instrumental in getting him his wages and job. Ex-players who feel slighted, might moan at their ex-managers (RS - ?), but who has ever heard of any player debating any internal practise at any club. It has happened, but so rarely it is, truly a snowflake in hell. |

Personally (in my obviously unqualified opinion TM proccy ;) ) I think the article hits the nail on the head about some of our failings. I had just finished posting my summation of the season on another board and found a lot of commonality with the above viewpoint. BBN |
